Short version
Kern collects nothing. There is no account, no analytics, no tracking, and no server. Everything you enter — your start date, your habit name — stays on your device.
What data the app stores
Locally on your iPhone (in UserDefaults shared with the home-screen widget), Kern stores:
- The date you started
- A habit name (default: "alcohol-free")
- Your previous best streak length
- The most recent milestone you've celebrated
That's it. None of this leaves your device.
What we don't collect
- We don't have user accounts.
- We don't run a server.
- We don't use third-party analytics (no Firebase Analytics, no Mixpanel, no PostHog, no Sentry — nothing).
- We don't use ads or ad networks.
- We don't use any tracking SDKs.
- We don't read your contacts, calendar, photos, or location.
Notifications
Kern schedules local notifications to remind you of upcoming milestones (Day 7, 30, 90, etc.). These notifications are scheduled on your device by your iPhone — they are not sent from a server. You can turn them off in iOS Settings at any time.
App Store
When you download Kern from the App Store, Apple may collect information per its own Privacy Policy. We do not receive that data from Apple.
