Privacy Policy

Short version

Kern collects nothing. There is no account, no analytics, no tracking, and no server. Everything you enter — your start date, your habit name — stays on your device.

What data the app stores

Locally on your iPhone (in UserDefaults shared with the home-screen widget), Kern stores:

• The date you started
• A habit name (default: "alcohol-free")
• Your previous best streak length
• The most recent milestone you've celebrated

That's it. None of this leaves your device.

What we don't collect

• We don't have user accounts.
• We don't run a server.
• The app uses no third-party analytics (no Firebase Analytics, no Mixpanel, no PostHog, no Sentry — nothing). This website is separate; see This website.
• We don't use ads or ad networks.
• We don't use any tracking SDKs.
• We don't read your contacts, calendar, photos, or location.

Notifications

Kern schedules local notifications to remind you of upcoming milestones (Day 7, 30, 90, etc.). These notifications are scheduled on your device by your iPhone — they are not sent from a server. You can turn them off in iOS Settings at any time.

App Store

When you download Kern from the App Store, Apple may collect information per its own Privacy Policy. We do not receive that data from Apple.

Purchases

Kern Pro is bought through Apple's In-App Purchase. Apple handles the payment and the receipt; we receive no card details, no name, no email, and no identifier that points at you.

On your device the app stores a single flag meaning "this is unlocked". That is all. There is no account, no server of ours involved, and the App Store privacy label stays Data Not Collected.

We deliberately do not use a purchase-analytics service. Adding one would require declaring Purchase History on that label, and the label is a feature of this app rather than a formality.

This website

Everything above is about the app. The pages you are reading are a separate thing, and they use Google Analytics 4 to count page views — which pages get read, and roughly where readers come from. No advertising, no profiles.

• Until you accept, nothing is stored on your device. Analytics storage starts denied; the visit is counted as an anonymous ping with no cookie and no identifier.
• If you accept, Google Analytics sets cookies so a returning visit is not counted as a new person. Google processes that data for us.
• Advertising signals stay off permanently, either way.
• You can change your choice at any time.
