Release notes
Every version of Kern, newest first. The App Store only shows the latest one; the rest are kept here.
0.5.1 · September 2026
Small things, done properly.
- Tapping a milestone notification now opens the count it was about — not whichever you looked at last.
- Money not spent works on every count, not only the first. Set it from the count's editor.
- The background reaches the edges of the screen when you have more than one count.
- "Need help now?" is one tap away at the moment you log a slip, as well as in Settings.
- A milestone that arrives while the app is open is shown instead of silently dropped.
Nothing about your existing count changes.
0.5.0 · September 2026
Count more than one thing.
Some people are quitting two at once — a drink and a cigarette, a cigarette and a vape. Kern now holds as many counts as you need, each with its own name, start date and milestones. Swipe on the main screen to move between them.
- A widget that shows every count at once, and a small one for whichever you pick
- Each count gets its own reminders, named, so you know which reached the day
- Start over on any count, with the same honest slip date and undo
Your existing count stays exactly as it was, and free — along with every widget, milestone and your personal best. Keeping more than one is a one-time purchase. No subscription, ever.
0.4.0 · August 2026
Kern now speaks your language.
The whole app — the day count, the milestones, the notifications that arrive on day 7 and day 90 — is now in 17 more languages. Nothing changed about how it works. It just stopped being in English.
- Spanish, German, French, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Czech, Greek, Romanian, Hungarian, Ukrainian and Turkish
- Day counts follow your language's own grammar, not English's — "5 dní", not "5 den"
- Dates, numbers and currency follow your region
As always: no account, no ads, no data collected.
0.3.0 · July 2026
Kern on your Lock Screen.
Your day count now lives where you actually look — a small ring, a wide panel, or a single line above the clock. Glance without opening anything.
- Lock Screen widgets — circular, rectangular and inline
- Start over now asks when it happened, so a slip you log days later doesn't cost you the days since — and there's an Undo if you tapped by mistake
- Optional "money not spent", off until you set a weekly figure
- New milestones at 150, 273 and 730 days, so the long stretches aren't silent
- Progress now measures the stretch you're in, not the whole count
As always: no account, no ads, no data collected.
0.2.0 · June 2026
Share your milestones.
You can now turn any day count into a quiet, shareable card — straight from a milestone, or any day from the main screen. Made on your device, nothing leaves your phone.
- Shareable milestone cards
- A share button on the main screen, share any day
As always: no account, no ads, no data collected.
0.1.1 · May 2026
A bigger widget.
- Added a medium-size home-screen widget
- Tapping "Rate Kern" in Settings now opens the App Store review composer
0.1.0 · May 2026
Kern's first release.
A day counter on your home screen: one number, milestones from day 1 to 1000, a personal best kept across a reset, and a label you name yourself. No account, no ads, no data collected.
